Nagual del MARZO

50% Sangiovese, 50% Cabernet Sauvignon. This is a subtle, elegant restrained wine with just a kiss of oak from it’s 20 months in large Botte/Casks. Of all of our wines, the MARZO has lead the way in showcasing our submerged cap and extended maceration approach in the cellar. Fantastic old world results. 6 bottle limit per customer.

KEEP IN MIND, IF TEMPERATURES DROP/SPIKE WE WILL HOLD ORDERS UNTIL IT WARMS UP/COOLS DOWN. LIMITED QUANTITIES.

TEMPLATE

Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon field blend from MARZO’s block, Cornville, AZ. Light bodied Italian style Super Tuscan. Named after my Great Grandfather John “Spirit” Marzo who made wine in Northern Italy near Turino in Venaus. Cropped at 1.5 to 2.5 tons per acre. 3450 ft. elevation.

SOURCE

Caduceus Cellars Marzo Block, Cornville AZ

Located right on Oak Creek, this 2.5 acre plot is home to our Sangiovese and Cab Sav. Approx 3500 ft. Sandy, clay-loam river sediment on top of a bed of volcanic rock peppered calcareous (chalky, alkaline “limestone-like) sediments derived from a larger geologic structure called the Verde formation. These grapes are generally slated to be the major components of the Arizona, Nagual del Marzo, as well as the occasional VSC and Rosé offerings. Just above it sits the Barbera vineyard, which also makes it’s way into VSC offerings and occasionally the Oneste and Marzo. This site also hosts our Merkin Vineyards Orchard and Garden produce used at the Merkin Osteria in Old Town Cottonwood and Caduceus Cellars Tasting Rm in Jerome, AZ.
