Today, on the 2nd anniversary of Judith’s death, We planted over 660 cabernet vines. 666, to be exact. Coincidently this is where we spread her ashes just under 2 years ago. This of course inspired me to call this portion of Merkin West “Judith’s Vineyard.” if I make an estate wine from this cab I will most likely name it “Nagual del Judith.” This vineyard was very difficult to plan and plant. It sits three quarters of the way up a very steep slope. Luckily I had an incredible crew of gifted and passsionate rock workers to really make this a very special place. I’ve never seen a more beautiful vineyard.
